You’ll be amazed at just how big they can get, and where in the world they reside!

The Largest Fan In The World

Commercial ceiling fans come in all shapes and sizes, but none surpass the one which can be found in the guinness book of world records… residing in Hong Kong! Here are some fun facts about the world’s largest fan:

• Dimensions are 8.48 x 5.18 metres (27 ft 10 in x 17 ft)… take that in for a moment!
• It was created by a company called Goods of Desire (G.O.D) in Hong Kong, and presented at the G.O.D Peak Galleria store in 2009
• The fan is made from wood and paper
• It operates exactly the same as any normal fan would

The Largest Commercial Air Conditioner in the World

So we know commercial ceiling fans can get pretty large… and are great investments for businesses who need adequate ventilation and air circulation, from large industrial warehouses to kitchens or small store fronts.

Here’s what we found…

• While we are not sure if it is the largest in the world, we did find a GIANT commercial air conditioner that resides in the United States of America, and is apparently one of the largest in the country.
• It was moved to the World Trade Memorial Site in Lower Manhattan, NYC in 2010 on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attack.
• This giant steel chiller plant is large enough to cool 700 homes!
• It is fully functional, and was designed to cool the Santiago Calatrava underground PATH hub, retail space, 9/11 memorial site and museum.
• The chiller plant draws up to 30,000 gallons of icy water from the Hudson River every minute!
• The plant produces enough cold air to cover 1.8 million square feet of public space.

Now, that’s cool!

The Largest Refrigerator In The World

To round off our search, we located the largest refrigerator in the world in the Guinness Book of World Records. Here’s what we found:

• The largest fridge in the world was created in Geneva, Switzerland in 2008.
• It is known as “The Large Hadron Collider”, and is the largest and most powerful particle accelerator in the world.
• The collider has a circumference of 27 km, and contains 9,300 magnets. These are designed to be refrigerated for operational use!
• 10,080 tonnes of liquid nitrogen are required to cool to -193.2 C, when it is then filled with 60 tonnes of liquid helium, the collider can then cool to a chilly -271.3 C.

You may not need a fridge quite that cold, or large! But it’s still fun to know just how incredible today’s innovations in technology across commercial ceiling fans, air conditioning and refrigeration can go.
